Unit 2 Finance for business
This unit develops the essential financial knowledge and skills needed to understand how businesses operate and achieve financial success. Students explore the different types of costs involved in running a business, from start-up expenses to ongoing operating costs, and learn how businesses generate revenue and profit.
Learners also examine key financial tools such as break-even analysis, budgeting and cash flow forecasting, helping them understand how businesses plan effectively and manage financial risk. The unit concludes by introducing financial statements, including profit and loss accounts and balance sheets, enabling students to interpret performance and make informed judgements.
As an externally assessed unit, there is a clear focus on developing calculation skills, application and exam technique. Overall, this unit equips learners with the confidence to apply financial concepts in both exam and real business contexts.
